REALITY+ is a cross-border cooperation initiative between Serbia and Bulgaria that combines cultural heritage with modern digital technologies, with the aim of enhancing the tourism offer of Eastern Serbia and Northwestern Bulgaria. Its activities focus on modernising museums and cultural sites, digitising cultural heritage, improving promotion, and creating new content for visitors.
As part of the project, the Museum of the Timok Rebellion in Boljevac will be reconstructed, while the exhibition spaces at the Historical Museum in Chiprovtsi will be renovated and revitalised and new equipment will be procured. Multimedia content dedicated to the traditional Chiprovtsi wedding will also be developed.
A significant part of the activities focuses on the digitisation of cultural heritage. An E-platform for the cultural heritage of Eastern Serbia and Northwestern Bulgaria will be developed in Serbian, Bulgarian, and English. It will bring together information on the most important cultural sites and enable their presentation in a more modern and interactive way.
A Cross-Border Centre for 3D Modelling and Photogrammetry will be established within RARIS and equipped with the necessary technology. A total of 20 3D models of cultural heritage sites from both sides of the border will be created and presented through the E-platform. AR presentations will also be developed for 20 museums and cultural sites, allowing visitors to experience cultural heritage in a new and interactive way.
In addition, the “Museums in the Digital Age” analysis and an action plan will be prepared, providing recommendations for improving the digital services and online communication of cultural organisations. Training programmes, joint activities involving institutions from Serbia and Bulgaria, and a digital promotional campaign showcasing museums and cultural attractions in the cross-border area are also planned.
In this way, REALITY+ brings together the renovation of cultural infrastructure, digitisation, new technologies, and joint tourism promotion to make the cultural heritage of Eastern Serbia and Northwestern Bulgaria more accessible and attractive to visitors.
