The Bor Smart Green Islands project aims to improve the municipal waste management system in Bor through infrastructure modernisation, the introduction of digital technologies, and more active citizen engagement.
As part of the project, 60 underground waste containers will be installed at 32 locations and equipped with sensors to monitor fill levels. A digital monitoring and control room will be established within the Public Utility Company (JKP) Bor, enabling real-time monitoring of container status and more efficient planning of waste collection.
A dedicated component of the project focuses on informing and educating citizens about proper waste disposal, recycling, and the circular economy. Workshops, educational events, podcasts, and a hackathon for young people will be organised. The “Eko-Bor” digital platform will also be developed to provide information, enable citizens to report problems, and encourage their participation in improving the waste management system.
By implementing the project, Bor will gain a more modern and efficient waste management system, resulting in cleaner public spaces
